Jets vs. Saints bold predictions for Week 16 clash

The New York Jets go on a journey Week 16 to face the New Orleans Saints. Both teams have been eliminated from the playoffs, but this game will be important for the future of both organizations. The draft is looming for both of these clubs, with quarterback questions ruling the day. But these bold predictions from the Jets and Saints have one club realizing it, while the others once again become irrelevant.

The Jets will start Brady Cook for the second straight week after a shaky game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. New York fired defensive coordinator Steve Wilks after that performance, where the defense gave up 48 points. Now, that group has a seemingly tough matchup against a newly minted newcomer Tyler Shough. But New Orleans will be without key offensive linemen Devin Neal and De’Von Veale.

Will the Jets end the Saints’ two-game winning streak? Or will New Orleans keep rolling while sending New York deeper into the sewers?

Tyler Shough has second straight 300-yard game

Although Shough has yet to have a 300-yard passing game, he did have a 300-yard game in Week 15. Shaw has used his legs effectively in recent weeks, rushing for 110 yards and two touchdowns over the last five games. Even without Vele and Neal, the young quarterback will prove why he can be the next franchise man in the Big Easy.

The Saints will be without Vele, who has been a big target for Shog in recent weeks. I Neal’s absence could be even worse if Alvin Kamara doesn’t play in Week 16. But the Saints still have the talent advantage over the Jets’ disastrous defense. A new playmaker could change things for New York, but they traded away their two best players, making the ceiling pretty low.

The Saints are playing themselves as the top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, but they should be fine with that if Shough continues to emerge. Despite his age, 26, and draft status, a second-round pick, Shough could still be the guy.

Breece Hall is having another brutal day

U loss to the Jaguars on Sunday, Breece Hall picked up just 37 yards on 14 touches. Hull is off to a great start to the season, and is close to his career high in yards. He needs just 100 yards on the ground to reach 1,000 for the first time in his career. But Hall won’t get there Sunday, failing to reach 70 total yards in this one.

The Saints put together two straight wins, and Shaw caught the eye. But the defense was strong in that part as well. Last week against the Carolina Panthers, none of their running backs managed to break 60 total yards. Hall had a great season, totaling over 1,200 yards. But his streak of failing to reach 70 total yards would continue.

When Brady Cook is at quarterback, defenses can anticipate the running game more than they would if Tyrod Taylor was there. The Jets know that, but Taylor and Justin Fields are hurt. So Cook will try to get the ball into Hall’s hands. But that should be the Saints’ only priority.

The Saints beat the Jets by at least 7 points

The Saints would beat the Jets by a touchdown, winning their third straight of the season. Shough will once again be the story, following in Trevor Lawrence’s footsteps and smoking New York’s defense. In the meantime, Cook’s career will continue to be exactly what everyone expected from the undrafted free agent playing for the Jets. A win could move New York up the draft board, which should be the goal at the end of the day.

According to the FanDuel bookmaker, the Saints have 4.5 points favorites done The Jets are -215 on the money line. Aaron Glenn and the Jets they are the underdogs again, and have shown no reason to change that.
