Jim Harbaugh is every LA fan with Tarzan screaming at Justin Herbert

The Los Angeles Chargers improved to 9-4 after beating the Philadelphia Eagles in extension to Monday Night Football. Los Angeles held on to the fifth seed in the highly competitive AFC with a 22-19 victory.

Justin Herbert played despite surgery on his no-throw arm last week. The veteran passer was under constant pressure from an Eagles pass rush that saw him sacked seven times Monday night.

But Herbert kept fighting. He led the game with a game-tying field goal at the end of regulation, followed by a goal in overtime. After a tough win, the Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh found the quarterback and let out a primal scream.

Harbaugh had just finished shaking hands with Eagles coach Nick Sirianni when he saw Herbert. In a mixture of relief and joy, he roared as he hugged the sixth year bystander.

Plenty of tension rose during Monday night’s wildly sloppy game. The teams combined for eight turnovers as neither side was able to take control of the contest. Herbert struggled against an aggressive Eagles defense, going 12/26 for 139 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He added 66 yards and lost a fumble on a sack.

However, Jalen Hurts had an even harder time protecting the ball. The reigning Super Bowl MVP threw four interceptions and a fumble Monday night. Hurts had two turnovers in one game. It was the first time in 47 years that this feat was accomplished.

The teams committed six turnovers in the second quarter alone. That was it the highest turnover in half of the MNF since 2009.

The Chargers took advantage of some of the Eagles’ mistakes and were able to hang around. Los Angeles tied the game on Cameron Dicker’s 46-yard field goal late in the game. Then, after opening overtime with a field goal, the Chargers held on for the win.

Philadelphia drove deep into Los Angeles territory, looking for a TD knockout punch. But Hurts threw the game-tying interceptionending the competition in the most appropriate way possible.
