Jimmy Butler brings up his bottom line on Jonathan Cumminga’s trade request
Golden State Warriors a veteran Jimmy Butler reacted to Jonathan Cumminga’s trade request after Thursday’s 126-113 win against the New York Knicks. Doc Kuminga’s Warriors teammates know the end is near As we approach the trade deadline, Butler made it clear that Golden State’s decision to part ways with Jonathan is not a reflection of how his teammates feel about him.
Butler told reporters during his postgame media availability that he he wants nothing but the best for Cummings’ future, and that the two have grown closer as individuals in Jimmy’s short time with the Warriors, ESPN’s Anthony Slater said.
“It has nothing to do with us. We love (Jonathan Cummings) in this locker room. That’s not going to change,” Butler said. “If he happens to not be here, we’re still rocking with JK. I speak for everybody. I don’t care. We love the guy. I wish him the best here. I wish him the best wherever. That doesn’t change. We don’t listen to the noise. I hope he doesn’t listen to the noise. He always comes in with a smile, does what he’s a pro, and he’s like the ultimate.”
Does Kuminga deserve a change of scenery or do you wish things had worked out with the Warriors?
“Hey, hey, hey. It has nothing to do with me. I want JK to be happy,” Butler replied. “At the end of the day, that’s what I want. Whatever brings him joy and happiness, that’s what I want for my brother. Not my friend. That’s my brother.”

Warriors teammate sees Jonathan Cuminga stay

While most believe Cuminga’s time with the Warriors is over early, not everyone is convinced. At least one Warriors teammate sees Cumming staying through the season, according to Marcus Thompson II, Nick Friedel and Sam Amick of The Athletic.
“I could see it happening,” one Warriors player said of the possibility of Kuminga remaining with the team for the rest of this season,” Thompson II, Friedel and Amick reported.
The Warriors have four of their last five games.
