Jimmy Butler III is ‘determined to make a run’ with Golden State in 2025-26
Jimmy Butler III is gearing up for his first full season as a member of the Golden State Warriors. After a solid playoff run last season, he’s looking to take it to the next level with a title run.
Butler began his journey with the Warriors in February after the team was able to trade with the Miami Heat. He asked for a change of scenery and a better contract situation, which Golden State was more than happy to oblige.
NBA insider Chris Haynes talked about Butler’s mindset heading into the 2025-26 NBA season during a Monday segment on NBA TV. He spoke with someone close to the veteran starwho told him that Butler had a strong determination for this coming campaign.
“I talked to someone very close to Jimmy Butler, who said he treated this past offseason like he was entering his rookie year. He’s really determined to go in there and try to make a legitimate run for the Golden State Warriors,” Haynes said.
“You still have Draymond Green, who I still feel is one of the best defenders in this league. I know it doesn’t show up on blocks or steals, but defensively it does. I think as long as they can stay healthy, the only thing I care about is Jonathan Cumminga’s corporation. Will they allow him to have a bigger role.

What’s Next for Jimmy Butler III, Warriors

It’s clear the Warriors have title contention in mind with a veteran star core of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler III.
Golden State could have made a run for the title if injuries hadn’t gotten in the way. They reached the second round of the playoffs after defeating the two-seeded Houston Rockets in seven games. However, their chances ended after Curry suffered a hamstring strain in Game 1 of the Western Semis against the Minnesota Timberwolves. That ended the team’s five-game streak against Minnesota.
Golden State made sure to rebuild this offseason. They added Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton and Will Richard to bolster their overall depth. As for Butler, he will look to make a big impact on the team’s title chances with his experienced core of stars.
The Warriors will be preparing for the start of the regular season, as they are on the road. They take on the Los Angeles Lakers on October 21st at 10:00 PM ET.
