JJ Redick gives optimistic update on Jackson Hayes’ injuries

The Los Angeles Lakers took a heavy blow on Sunday, as they did embarrassed by the Boston Celtics in a 111-89 loss at the Cripto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The night for the Purple & Gold was made even worse by an injury suffered by the big man Jackson Hayes in the first half.
Hayes was in action for just five minutes before he left and was ruled out for the rest of the evening with an ankle problem.
Fortunately for Hayes and the Lakers, his injury does not appear to be of a serious nature.
“Lakers coach JJ Redick said center Jackson Hayes took a scan of his right ankle and has a small bruise,” Benjamin Royer of the OC Register reported via a social media post on X, formerly Twitter.
However, Hayes’ status for the Lakers’ next game is still up in the air, with Redick noting that the former Texas Longhorns star is “day-to-day.” Los Angeles is scheduled to play Paolo Banchero and the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night in LA.
Before leaving the Celtics game, Hayes, 25, had two points on 1-for-2 shooting with a rebound. His absence the rest of the night didn’t help Los Angeles, because The Lakers dominated Bostonespecially on glass. The Celtics grabbed 50 rebounds on just 39 LA boards.
So far in his third season with the Lakers, Hayes is averaging 6.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game.
If Hayes ends up being ruled out for the Magic, DeAndre Ayton could get more minutes, while Maki Kleber and Drew Timme could also see increased playing time.
