JJ Redick gives update on Luka Doncic’s injury after LA beat 76ers

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a come-from-behind victory, 119-115, against the visiting Philadelphia 76ers, but the main concern after the game was status Luka Dončić, who left the game in the first half due to, as it was called, a leg injury and did not return to action.

After the Lakers’ win against the 76ers, head coach JJ Redick provided a short updated version about the injury status of Luka Dončić.

“He felt sore in his hamstring. He didn’t feel like he was good enough to come back and he didn’t get medical attention, so we held him off, Redick said. “He took some shots, too early to tell if it was an injury, just a sore hamstring.

Before leaving the game, Dončić had 10 points, four rebounds and two assists. He shot 3-of-10 from the field, missed all four of his 3-point attempts and went a perfect 4-of-4 in 16 minutes.

Dončić fought through several nagging injuries problems this year, but continued his great season to top the NBA with 33.4 points. He is also averaging 7.9 rebounds, 8.7 assists and 1.5 steals on 47.5 percent shooting from the field, 34.8 percent from the 3-point line and 77.9 percent from the free throw line.

After the game, Marcus Smart expressed concern about Doncic, admitting the team still doesn’t have a full picture of his status.

“We had to finish the game so unfortunately we couldn’t see how bad it was,” Smart said. “But hopefully it’s not too bad, hopefully he’s good . . . but if he’s going to come out, obviously it’s going to take everybody tightening up a little bit more. It helps to have AR (Austin Reeves) back if that’s the case, but he’s definitely going to need a full team effort if he’s out now more than he’s out,
