JJ Redick reveals the ‘reality’ of LeBron James’ back-to-back situations

Los Angeles The Lakers have played this seasonand they added to their win streak after their last game against the New Orleans Pelicans. What was more fulfilling was that they managed to do most of their wins without them LeBron James, who just came back on the court about a week ago, and did not play against the Pelicans.

The Lakers are now in the business of managing James’ court time, and that means he likely won’t be playing back-to-back from now on. With the Lakers set to take on the Phoenix Suns in their second straight head coach game JJ Redick was asked about James’ playing situation.

“It’s something we had to address,” Redick said, via Broderick Turner of the LA Times . “Given that he’s basically just coming out of his training camp — this has been his training camp for the last 10 days or so — (we’re) just being cautious.”

Redick still isn’t sure how many tight ends James will play this season, but at this point they’re still trying to get him in shape.

“No, we’re going to build him up, hopefully, so he can play back-to-back,” Redick said. “That’s the goal. But you’re right. Every back-to-back game is case-by-case. That’s the reality of the NBA right now. But we want him to be able to play back-to-back. And he does. So we’re going to work on that.”

It’s no surprise that the Lakers are doing everything they can to manage James’ minutes. Besides coming back from injury, he is 40 years old and in his 23rd season in the league. James probably also understands the current situation and should feel comfortable making slow progress, especially since the Lakers are playing well.

It will be interesting to see how things play out with James as the season progresses.
