JJ Redick slaps LA with nagging injury after getting hit by Blazers

On Saturday night, The Los Angeles Lakers continued they lost in a big road loss at the hands of the Portland Trail Blazers. The Lakers played without several key figures, including Luka Dončićin this one, but it was still a disappointing performance, dropping their record to 24-16 in the process.
After the game, the head JJ Redick played the excuse card after Los Angeles’ last loss.
“This has been normal all season … you get one guy healthy, another one gets hurt, you get one guy back, another one gets hurt, two guys go out, so now you’re playing without your two centers. It’s just been our season,” Redick said, per Oh No He Didn’t on X, formerly Twitter.
The Lakers have dealt with their fair share of injuries this season, with LeBron James missing the first part of the season, Austin Reaves now out for multiple weeks, and Doncic also missing a few games here and there during the 2025-26 season.
Still, even when fully healthy, many skeptics have pointed to the Lakers’ lack of viable two-way players as a reason not to take them seriously as a threat in the Western Conference, and they’ve started to come back down to Earth in recent weeks after a hot start to the season.
Before the loss in Portland, Los Angeles was defeated at home by the Charlotte Hornets. Incredibly, the Hornets now have a higher net rating than the Lakers this season, who are currently No. 18 in that department in the league, adding further fuel to their idea that their record is somewhat flawed at best.
Either way, the Lakers will look to have some of their key players back in the lineup when they next take the floor Sunday night for a home game against the Toronto Raptors.
