The Golden State Warriors they were not shy about wanting to maximize their remaining years Stephen Curry. The Warriors had a dynastic run behind CurryDraymond Green, and Klay Thompson, and the owner Joe Lacob he wants to win more championships.

The Warriors, however, struggled to return to the NBA Finals after winning the title in 2022, their fourth in eight seasons. They even missed the playoffs entirely in 2024. They are currently 6-5.

But Lacob remains confident of his chances. He also hinted that he hopes to catch the late Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Bass in terms of recognition.

“The greatest owner in NBA history was Jerry Bass. Thirty-three years, 16 Finals,” Lacob said in a report by Danny Emmerman of the San Francisco Standard.

Emmerman wrote that it was a topic that “animated” Lacob and that Curry described his boss as having “irrational confidence.”

Lacob, 69, who made his fortune through a venture capital firm, bought the Warriors in 2010 along with other investors for $450 million. Before that, he was a co-investor in the Boston Celtics.

Lacob helped transforms Golden State into a perennial contenderwith Curry at the helm. But at 37, the window could soon be closing for the two-time MVP. Still, Lacob sees the glass as half full.

“I would like to continue our success after the Steph Curry era,” Lacob added. “He has a lot to do with this, no doubt about it.”

“There’s a part of me that wants to be really successful in the second iteration, when Curry is gone. So that’s something to think about.”

The Warriors have one of the oldest rosters in the league with guys like Curry, Green, Jimmy Butler, Al Horford and Buddy Hield. But they also have young pieces in Jonathan Cumminga, Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody and Will Richard, among others.

It’s worth noting that Lacob grew up a Lakers fan. He witnessed the winning culture instilled by Bus. While Lacob has already left a legacy in the Bay Area, it’s far from over.
