Joe Mazzulla’s War Zone Training

The Boston Celtics it just won’t go away. They are right again when it was thought they would take a step back without Jayson Tatum. Instead, the team is playing very well with the second best record in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics and New York Knicks trail the Detroit Pistons by 5.5 games at 29-18.

Jaylen Brown is playing like the MVP this season. He’s the leader of the team without Tatum on the floor, and he’s done an incredible job keeping everyone above water. The team lost Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, but they never seemed to lose a step. Anferni Simmons was also a great addition to the team; however, the The Celtics could trade him ahead of the NBA trade deadline.

We cannot ignore how Joe MazzullaCoaching also affected the Celtics. As strange as he is, he is always invited to train at any time. Everything he thinks about helps him try to improve his training.

Celtics backup big man Luca Garza explains the one time the entire team practiced in a war zone during training camp, via the Young Man & The Three Podcast.

“Exercising in a war zone at boot camp was one of the craziest experiences of my life,” Garza said. “The guard, it was me and Xavier Tillman lined up, and we’re a one-on-one defense going up and back for like twelve minutes straight. Meanwhile, he turns on the assist, and it’s like the sound of machine guns and like bombs are falling and flying, and I’m like, what was that cool thing going on right now?

According to Peyton Pritchard, apparently, Simmons had to do the drill five times in a row. Macula is relentless.
