Joel Edmundson reveals an easy fix for that wasted Kraken game

The Los Angeles Kings they are now 4-2-4 in their last 10 games and slowly falling in the Pacific Division standings. The team suffered another loss against the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday night, ending their two-game winning streak. It was a an up-and-down season for the veteran-led Kings, but taking five of a possible six points in the last three games should not be a cause for panic. However, Joel Edmundson is still there seeing some mistakesaccording to Zach Dooley via X, formerly known as Twitter.
“At the end of the day, when you take seven minors, it’s hard to win a hockey game,” Edmundson said bluntly.
He was not wrong in his assessment. The Kraken won 3-2 in overtime, with all three goals coming on the power play. Killing just four of seven penalties isn’t the best result for a penalty-killing unit, but being down 14 minutes in a 60+ minute game isn’t a recipe for success.
It doesn’t help that the Kings rank 22nd in penalty kill percentage. If they want to get into a penalty-filled game, their special teams will have to get a lot better. The The Kings are also second worst in field goal percentage.
The Kraken were quick to capitalize on their opportunities on Wednesday night, with the equalizer coming just 13 seconds after Anton Forsberg’s penalty and the overtime winner 16 seconds after Adrian Kempe’s sharp penalty. Another worrisome aspect for the Kings is that the penalties were coming from their leaders, with goaltenders Forsberg, Kempe, Drew Doughty, Ange Kopitar, Kevin Fiala, Cody Ceci and Warren Fogel taking minors.
While there’s no reason for the Kings to panic just yet, their veterans will have to figure it out before things get out of hand.
