Joel Embiid among players listed on injury report against Bulls

The Philadelphia 76ers looking to get back into the win column as they face the Chicago Bulls on Friday. Ahead of the 76ers’ upcoming game, the team released a lengthy injury report that highlighted Joel Embiid. Embiid continued his recovery from a knee injury last season, and The 76ers have managed his availability this year.

Joel Embiid was officially listed as suspicious on the team’s injury report for the 76ers’ game against the Bulls this week, according to the NBA’s official injury report. Additionally, Embiid, VJ Edgecombe, Quentin Grimes and Dominick Barlow are all listed as questionable. Kelly Oubre Jr. and Trendon Watford were ruled out.

In Embiid’s case, he returned to the 76ers’ lineup during their last game, a loss to the Brooklyn Nets. He finished that game with 27 points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocks in just over 31 minutes. Before that game, he missed two consecutive games. Embiid briefly left the Nets game due to injury concerns.

In total, Embiid has appeared in just 12 games for the 76ers this season. He averaged 21.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.3 blocks while shooting 43.5 percent from the field, 24.1 percent from the 3-point line and 82 percent from the free throw line.

Embiid battled a knee injury last season that ended up requiring surgery during the season. It was the second knee surgery he had in just one year. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Embiid has battled injuries throughout his career so far. He missed the first two years of this NBA career due to injury, and made his debut for the 76ers only in the 2016-17 season.
