Joel Embiid earns “amazing” props from Jay Wright

After missing most of February with a calf injury and knee stress management, Joel Embiid returned after the All-Star break for the Philadelphia 76ers against the Indiana Pacerswhere he scored 27 points in 26 minutes en route to a 21-point victory over the Indiana Pacers.

Is Embiid 100 percent back to his MVP form? No, he looked like someone who hadn’t played a basketball game since February 7th, but even if he took a step or two longer to get up and down the court, he still gave Jay Huff and company fits on both ends of the court.

One fan who was particularly impressed with Embiid’s return? Former Villanova Wildcats basketball coach Jay Wrightwho celebrated “The Process” on social networks for his own efficiency and intensity in court.

“Incredible talent for such a long absence and returning with efficiency and intensity!” Wright wrote. “One-of-a-kind talent Joel Embiid, Sixers.”

The most successful basketball coach in the greater Philadelphia area this century, Wright has been the apple of 76ers fans’ eyes since his first national championship victory on the main line, with his retirement in 2022 leaving many to believe that make the leap to the professional level for the first time in his legendary career. While that jump hasn’t happened thus far, the fact that Wright remains a 76ers fan has fans in the comments section begging him to return to the bench in place of Nick Nurse, where he could unlock the “efficiency and intensity” of Embiid.

Will it happen? Only time will tell, but if Embiid continues to play like he did against the Pacers, the 76ers could have their own banner before “The Process” joins Wright in retirement.
