Joel Embiid provides update after injury scare against Nets

On Tuesday evening, Philadelphia 76ers suffered one of the ugliest defeats of the season with a home loss to hands of the lowly Brooklyn Nets with a score of 114-106. Joel Embiid had a strong one In this game, he scored 27 points with six rebounds and four assists, but Tyrese Maxey was held to only 13 points in the loss.
At one point, the 76ers had a bit of an injury scare when Embiid appeared to be suffering from knee discomfort, and after the game, Embiid provided a little more context about what happened at that show.
“I just turned it up and then I went to the locker room and checked it out… We’ll see how it feels tomorrow,” Embiid said, per PHLI Seekers on X, formerly Twitter.
However, Embiid had a positive overall outlook on his health.
“Body-wise, some of the main issues coming into the season, my body feels pretty good. I’m moving a lot better on offense, and I can trust myself more on defense,” Embiid said.
Overall, the 76ers have been up and down this year, currently sitting at 16-12 after the loss to the Nets. Philadelphia had been playing good basketball prior to that setback, having shut out the New York Knicks in impressive fashion on the road last week, but as has often been the case so far in the 2025-26 season, inconsistency has been a major problem for the 76ers.
This applies not only to the win-loss column, but also to the lineups that head coach Nick Nurse has at his disposal, with the availability of Embiid and Paul George varying greatly from game to game.
Either way, the 76ers will now have a few days off before taking the floor Friday night against the Chicago Bulls at 7:30 PM ET.
