Joel Embiid will miss the Hawks showdown with another calf injury

The The Philadelphia 76ers are hoping for a strong close into the season after entering the All-Star break in a solid position in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The 76ers will be without Paul George a few more weeks as he serves his league suspension, and the team is hoping for the big man Joel Embiid can stay healthy until the end.
Unfortunately, on Wednesday, the team won rough update on Embiid for the upcoming home game against the Atlanta Hawks.
“Joel Embiid is OUT against Atlanta tomorrow,” reported PHLI Sports’ Kyle Neubeck on X, formerly Twitter.
The 76ers reported that Embiid “reported soreness in his right lower leg” during the break and “received daily therapy as he progressed through on-court work and strength and conditioning,” per Neubeck. The 76ers added that he will be re-evaluated ahead of the team’s games this weekend.
Embiid has been in and out of the lineup all year for the 76ers as he tries to address his chronic knee issues. Through it all, Tyrese McKay played at an All-NBA level for Philly, and the team also got big contributions from fellow rookie guard VJ Edgecombe.
Any legitimate chance the 76ers have to make noise in the Eastern Conference rises and falls with Embiid’s health, which is always a wild card, especially near the end of the season. Philly fans will certainly be hoping this latest shin ailment is nothing serious.
The 76ers and Hawks are scheduled to tip off Thursday at 7:00 PM ET from Philadelphia.
