Joel Embiid’s 39-point performance gets a perfect finish from Tyrese Maxey
The 2025-26 season has been uneven so far Joel Embiid. Embiid, who is recovering from knee problems it forced an early end to his 2024-25 campaign Philadelphia 76ers‘, and there is a noticeable decline in his production compared to the peak. At 31 years old, some believe Embiid’s days as a superstar who can lead the 76ers to the promised land may be over.
But in Friday night’s 115-105 victory over the Indiana Pacers, Embiid showed he could have a bounce back season as he continues to put his knee problems in the rear view mirror. The 2023 NBA MVP scored 39 points on 12-23 shooting from the field in his best performance yet as he led the 76ers to a win without Tyrese McKaywho was not present at the action on Friday evening due to illness.
After the game, the 76ers point guard, who was not with the team Friday night, gave Embiid a thumbs up his due requisites on his Instagram story for his performance against the Pacers.

The 76ers are now Tyrese Maxey’s team, but Joel Embiid is the team’s biggest X-factor

McKay is now without a doubt the best player on the 76ers. He’s the man the team relies on every night amid the uncertainty of injuries to the likes of Embiid and Paul George. But Embiid remains the team’s biggest X-factor in their title quest.
When healthy, Embiid is a dominant scoring force who can impose his will on any opposition. Recall that he recorded his 70-point game against Victor Wembanyama. He can also be a game-changer on defense, though his athletic decline has made him less impactful in that area of ββthe floor.
The 76ers’ main goal is to get Embiid healthy, and him scoring 39 on Friday should at least be a good sign that Philly is moving forward.
