Seattle has a pitching lineup keeping Toronto in check.

The Mariners played four different arms in the first game — surrendering just two hits and one run in the process. Brice Miller surrendered a solo home run, but struck out three Blue Jays in six innings.

Miller went on sinkers and sliders in the top of the second to keep the Blue Jays’ bats from flying out — forcing a grounder to come out and fly out. He then switched to splitters and sweepers to plate the next three outs in the bottom of the third. Sliders became the main pitch for Matt Brash and lefty Gabe Spierer after taking over the mound from Miller.

Seattle again threw four different pitchers on the mound in Game 2, with Eduard Bazardo getting the win. The Mariners allowed six hits but three runs while fanning five Blue Jays.

Right-hander and starter Logan Gilbert attacked Toronto with a slider through the gate — as six of his first pitches of the inning came through that tactic. Gilbert’s slider topped out at 89 mph.

Schneider turns to his 30-year veteran to spark the attack. Santander has scored three goals this postseason. He had 34 hits in 54 games with his new club after a few years with the Baltimore Orioles.

meanwhile, Max Scherzer is ready for Game 4 regardless of the outcome on Wednesday. Except that 41-year-old pitcher Scherzer may have to be the savior of Toronto’s season if the Jays fall to a 3-0 deficit.
