Jokić under fire for not recognizing the Serbian group in Chicago

The Denver Nuggets and Nikola Jokic enjoyed another great night in Chicago as they won 136-120 as the Serbian posted his 182nd career triple-double. However, it is not everyday that the presenter talks about Jokić comes off the field, especially on the day he scored 36 points, 14 rebounds and 17 assists.

However, Jokic was heavily criticized for his behavior after the game. The historic night was overshadowed by disappointment among Serbian fans and young performers who gathered at the United Center specifically to greet him.

(Serbian Times) About fifty girls and boys, who came to meet Nikola (Jokić) on the field of the United Center and greet him with Serbian national games, will remember it as a disappointment, because he didn’t even find time to take a photo with them. Not even to greet them, not to say a single word.

Allegedly, around 50 members of a folklore group from Indiana were waiting in folk costumes to meet their idol, for Jokić to walk by with a short wave and there is no interactionaccording to The Serbian Times.

The column also reminded of a similar incident from the previous year, when more than 300 Serbian children waited for more than an hour after the Denver-Chicago game without meeting the MVP, before Nikola Vucevic entered to greet them. According to the report, hundreds more fans formed a guard of honor at the exit of the arena after this last game, chanting his name, but again left disappointed.

The episode drew criticism in Serbian media, framing the night as a reminder that while Jokic continues to build a historic resume on the field, he may still have work to do. The triple-double means Jokic moved past Oscar Robertson for second place on the NBA’s all-time list as the Nuggets snapped a three-game skid.

It was his 19th triple-double of the season and second in as many games as he helped engineer the decisive fourth-quarter layup. The Nuggets erased a seven-point deficit with a 20–2 run, punctuated by back-to-back 3-pointers by him and Julian Strother.

The Nuggets have since been defeated by the Cleveland Cavaliers, despite Jokic posting another triple-double.
