Jordan Binnington takes the high road with a “grateful” takeaway

on Sunday, The USA hockey team won its first gold medal for the better part of five decades with exciting extensions victory over Team Canada in the final game of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan. This game was a back-and-forth affair throughout, with the U.S. team eventually securing victory in the final period when Jack Hughes’ shot found the back of the net.
While some of his Canadian teammates struck a more salacious tone after the game, Canadian and St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington set off on a big journey after his team’s defeat.
“What a hockey game. We left everything out there and we have to pick our heads up,” he said, per KDSK News’ Corey Miller on X, formerly Twitter.
Indeed, Team Canada put forth a valiant effort in this one, looking to be in control of the game before Hughes scored in overtime. Making matters even more impressive for Canada was the fact that they were competing without star player Sidney Crosby, who was forced to miss this game due to a calf injury sustained in the early round of the Milan Olympics.
However, in the end, the American team was able to win, and in the process, win their first Olympic gold medal since the 1980s “Miracle on Ice” victory against the Soviet Union.
Either way, Team Canada’s players will certainly be thinking about revenge when the next Winter Olympics begin in the French Alps in February 2030.
