Jordan Binnington’s early destinations before the 2026 NHL trade deadline

The St. Louis Blues is not in a good place right now. St. Louis fell well short of eighth after making the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs. The Blues are sixth in the Central Division and are watching their playoff hopes fade with each game. as a result veterans like Jordan Binginton are starting to appear on the trade block.

Binnington has had a successful career so far. He had one of the biggest rises in modern history, winning the Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2019. His performance that season was a vital component for St. Louis going from the bottom of the league in January to becoming Cup champions that June.

However, the network veteran hasn’t reached that level of success since. He finished with a .910+ save percentage three times since winning it all. But he’s also had some rough seasons, including this year, as he currently has an .871 save percentage.

The Blues will buy Binnington around 2026 NHL Trade Deadline. However, they probably won’t buy him the player he is right now. St. Louis will try to sell teams on a player who can be in the right situation.

With teams all over the league looking for a goaltender, there may be a team willing to pay to acquire his services. Let’s take a look at two potential teams that could take a chance on Jordan Binnington.

Blues, Hurricanes could come to an agreement

The Carolina Hurricanes are one of the best teams in the NHL at this time. They are currently in a three-way tie for first place in the Eastern Conference along with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Detroit Red Wings. They are certainly not afraid of a big move, and they have a clear need: a goalkeeper.

Brandon Busey had a promising rookie seasonbut only owns a .905 save percentage. Behind him, however, the options are not inspiring. Frederik Andersen has an incredible .863 save percentage in 19 games. Piotr Kochetkov had a .899 save percentage but is out for the season with an injury.

Hurricanes they have cap space to take Binnington’s cloth cap. If St. Louis willing to keep his salary, the risk becomes even more attractive. Carolina could give the veteran Stanley Cup champion a chance to rediscover his form in Raleigh down the stretch.

The Canadiens could fly on Jordan Binnington

The Montreal Canadiens are not far from the Hurricanes, Lightning and Red Wings. They are on their way to returning to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, like Carolina, they have a major goaltending need.

The Canadiens entered the season believing that Sam Montembeault was their No. 1 option. However, at one point he was demoted to the AHLand currently has a .874 save percentage. Jakub Dobes and Jacob Fowler were better, but they are around league average.

Binginton has shown the ability to come up in big moments. Throwing in this team could help him regain his form as the playoffs approach. His Stanley Cup experience could also benefit a team inexperienced in the postseason.

The Canadiens and Blues would have to do this financially, as Montreal has little cap space to work with. If they can pull something off, then Montreal could be an ideal landing spot for the veteran netminder. It’s the kind of low-risk move that could benefit the Canadiens big time in a few months.
