Jordan Ott is entering an ‘accelerated’ recovery from Devin Booker’s injury

January 23 Devin Booker suffered a freak ankle injury in a loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Just as he backed away to defend, he turned his ankle on the leg of Onyeka Okongwu in nasty fashion, and it looked like Booker was set for a lengthy layoff for Phoenix Suns. Booker, however, only missed seven games, returning on February 7 in the Suns’ loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Booker has played 32 minutes in each of the two games he’s played since returning from his ankle injury, and while he hasn’t fully gotten into the swing of things yet, the Suns needed him back, especially with J.Allen Greene is still coming back amid his season-long battle with hamstring issues and Grayson Allen is now up for re-evaluation after the All-Star break amid his bout with knee issues.

That’s it it is not entirely clear however, will Booker suit up for the Suns’ contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder tomorrow night, their second straight after their 120-111 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.

“He’s coming off a bad ankle injury and stepped up his recovery to get out there and play. Now that’s tough on back-to-back nights. Check with all our guys. Back-to-back is tough in the league,” head coach Jordan Ott said before the Suns’ win over the Mavs, per Duane Rankin of AZ Central.

The Suns will err on the side of caution

The good news with Booker is that the injury he suffered isn’t soft tissue related, meaning it shouldn’t be as prone to re-aggravation as Green’s hamstring is.

With the All-Star break right around the corner, expect the Suns to be very careful with their most important players.
