Jordan Ott shares a haunting first memory of Victor Vembanyama
PHOENIX – Jordan Ott may not have been an NBA coach in the league for long, but he’s not a star player either Victor Vembanyama. Electricity Phoenix Suns the head coach is in his first season with the team, and Vembanje is in his third.
However, the two met for the first time during a game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs. It was held immediately after the NBA season in the 2023-24 season.
In that game, the French phenomenon scored 30 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and six blocks. It was unlike anything Ott had ever seen before.
Although The Suns players are ready to play VembanyamaOtt knows there’s no ceiling to what the former Rookie of the Year can do. It made him reflect once again at that game in December 2023.
“Not a great memory,” Ott said, laughing before the game. “It’s just that his skills at that size are different.”
“I think we’ve seen that before. (Kristaps) Porzingis, but this one is different. His speed, his skill, his ability to maneuver in the air and still be able to get to the rim after all that stuff.”
Jordan Ott knows the Suns have a tough test with Victor Vembanyama

It’s not just his size that’s the main problem. As Ott said, it’s a combination of his strength, size, speed, athleticism and body control.
For someone listed at 7’4, he doesn’t move and play like that. A multiplayer game rooted in difficult shot-making, outstanding rim protection, and being an “alien” earns the admiration of the NBA world.
Not to mention, his Spurs are off to a blistering 5-0 start. though, Vembanjama was the central point, but guys like Stephon Castle and Devin Vassell continue to contribute as well.
Sunday’s game could be the Suns’ chance to put San Antonio in the loss column first. Or, it could turn into another nightmare that Ott and his team have to endure for 48 minutes.
