Julius Randle talks about the Minneapolis shooting

On Sunday night, Minnesota Timberwolves lost their fifth straight game against the Golden State Warriors in the way he hit. The matchup was originally billed as a nationally televised game for Saturday afternoon, but that changed after the city’s second ICE agent-involved shooting in three weeks, prompting the league to postpone the game to Sunday.

Hearts were heavy at the Target Center Sunday afternoon over the latest violence, and after the game, the Timberwolves forward Julius Randle gave his thinking about the situation.

“Regardless of politics, there’s a human aspect, for me I have children, I have a family, for me it’s a job as a man to be the protector of the house. You see things like that and obviously, it’s hard, it’s hard to take things like that… no matter what happens, when someone loses their life, you never want to tell R. Dukolet that you see it” on X, formerly Twitter.

Randle also spoke about his love for the Minneapolis community, which he has been a part of since his trade from the New York Knicks prior to the 2024-25 season.

“From the moment I’ve been here, Minneapolis has been great for me, the fans and the community are really behind me. Everyone, the neighbors, the community I live in, the school my son goes to, just everything, since I’ve been here it’s been nothing but joy, so it’s hard.”

Some fans have criticized the NBA for moving the game between the Timberwolves and Warriors to such a short time later than originally scheduled.

Meanwhile, the two teams will square off again Monday night in Minnesota for a rematch. Tipoff for that game is set for 9:30 PM ET.
