Kansas City has issued a statement regarding the lawsuit filed against Rushi Rice

Dacoda Jones, ex-girlfriend Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Riceshe filed a lawsuit against him, alleging that he assaulted her over a period of 18 months. On Wednesday, the franchise released an official statement regarding the Rice situation.
Kansas City issued a small statement, essentially admitting the claim filed against the 25-year-old wideout, according to ESPN’s Michael Rothstein and Nate Taylor. The Chiefs also claimed they remain in talks with the NFL while the situation continues.
“The club is aware of (the lawsuit) and remains in communication with the National Football League.”
Jones claims she was assaulted multiple times over an 18-month period between 2023 and 2025. She alleges she was pregnant with Rice’s child during the alleged incidents. Jones is said to be seeking over $1 million from Rushi Rice.
The lawsuit alleges that Dakoda Jones was harmed in multiple ways, including being strangled in December 2023. She alleges that Rice displayed a history of abusive behavior during their relationship, according to ESPN.
“Jones alleges that Rice strangled her in December 2023 and that she exhibited a history of violent behavior through the relationship in Texas and Missouri through July 2025. ‘Rice grabbed, choked, strangled, pushed, threw, scratched, punched and headbutted Ms. Jones, as well as punched Ms. Jones, according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit also says Rice punching walls, destroying property and breaking furniture, while locking her out of their apartment at night.
Rashee Rice just finished his third NFL season with the Chiefs. He played in only eight games. He served a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, stemming from his alleged involvement in a March 2024 high-speed crash in Dallas.
He also missed some time due to a knee injury he was recovering from last season. In three years in Kansas City, Rice played in 28 of a possible 51 games. So far in his career, he has recorded 156 receptions, 1,797 yards and 14 touchdowns.
