Karl-Anthony Towns has a perfect look at wearing the armband against the Nuggets

Sometimes you just need one good eye. Karl-Anthony Towns suffered a bloody cut in the first quarter on Wednesday as New York Knicks hosted the Denver Nuggets at Madison Square Garden. However, he refused to just watch from the bench, especially with impaired vision.

Towns quickly returned to action after receiving stitches above his right eye.

Early in the fourth quarter, as the Knicks tried to hold on to a slim lead, Towns was asked about his condition. He made it clear that it had to be on the floor.

“I want to play. It’s a great game, it’s great basketball that’s being played on TV right now, and you know, that’s what the fans want,” the six-time All-Star said in an interview with ESPN.

“It’s okay, I look like I fought Shakur Stevenson.”

Towns, 30, was referring to the four-division boxing champion. Interestingly, the WBC stripped Stevenson of the lightweight title just hours before the Knicks took on the Nuggets.

Stevenson defeated Teofimo Lopez at Madison Square Garden on Saturday to win the belt.

The Knicks and Nuggets traded blowswith the game going into double overtime. When the final bell rang, the Knicks survived, 134-127, to win their eighth straight.

Towns had a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds. He shot 9 of 13 from the field. Jalen Branson led New York with a career-high 42 points, eight rebounds, nine assists and two steals.

OG Anunoby added 20 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
