Karl-Anthony Towns of the Knicks wears a hard hat and construction vest after the NBA Cup win against the Magic

The New York Knicks (18-7) have done a good job lately of winning games they should win, and they did so again after earning 132-120 victory in the semi-finals of the NBA Cup over the injury-hit Orlando Magic (15-11) on Saturday. However, the team coached by Mike Brown does not lose sight of what is important. Karl-Anthony Towns was retaining a blue-collar mentality during his postgame interview.
The five-time All-Star center had a baseball cap and wore a construction vest with work boots slung over his shoulders. Outlandish clothing and gimmicks are common in Las Vegas, but people are just as curious.
“I’m working double time,” Towns told Chris Haynes after helping the Knicks advance to Tuesday night’s NBA Cup championship game. “I’m going to work on the roads in New York soon.”

The three-time third-team All-NBA selection certainly worked hard at T-Mobile Arena. While much of the focus has been on teammate Jalen Brunson and Magic guard Jalen Sagus — each scoring 25 points in the first half — Towns has made a huge impact in the highly anticipated contest.
The 30-year-old big man had 29 points, eight rebounds, one block and one steal while shooting 9-of-11 from the field. He praised Brunson beautifully, who broke out by 40 points. OG Anunoby added 24 points and three steals. When the Knicks’ key players excel, this team is incredibly hard to beat. New York has won five straight and nine of its last 10.
While the fans are certainly pleased with what they see Brown’s head coaching status if you start on a prosperous note, anything less than an NBA Finals appearance would be considered a failure. Karl-Anthony Towns’ outfit drives home that point (pun intended).
The Knickerbockers can’t afford to get too excited about competing for the NBA Cup. They are here to build something really special, and it will take a few more months to complete.
