Karl-Anthony Towns reveals why he too would be “disappointed” with the Mavericks loss
The New York Knicks they’ve been put on the back burner for cheating in recent days, but a MLK Day home game against the Dallas Mavericks seemed like the perfect way to get them back on track. What followed, of course, was a performance straight out of their own nightmares. They fell apart in the first half and never really recovered in a 114-98 loss to the Dallas Mavericks at Madison Square Garden.
This Knicks team played with so much lethargy on both ends of the floor, and the passionate MSG crowd made their feelings known by raining boos inside the arena. This loss is the fourth in a row for New York, and to make matters worse, Jalen Brunson is back in the lineup and they still lost.
after the game Karl-Anthony Towns acknowledged the boos from the Knicks crowd and acknowledged that he, too, would be disappointed if he, as a paying customer, was honored with a performance in which the home team never led — not even by a single possession — in a game where they trailed by as much as 30 points.
“You spend $140 to represent your favorite player with a jersey. You come to MLK Day here at The Garden and the tickets are three times the price. I’d be disappointed, too,” Towns said, via SNI’s Knicks video on X (formerly Twitter).

Should the Knicks make big changes this offseason?

Everything has seemingly been downhill for the Knicks since winning the 2025 NBA Cup. They have gone 7-11 since winning that tournament on Dec. 16, and there appear to be no quick fixes for this title contender.
The Knicks have some opportunities to improve their roster; Mitchell Robinson, in particular, seems resigned to the fact that it will be exchanged. But at the end of the day, this team just has to pick their heads up and get back into the game, starting Wednesday when they take on the Brooklyn Nets at MSG.
