Keegan Murray is out indefinitely after picking up an ankle injury

It’s been a tough season so far for the Sacramento Kings in the 2025-26 season, he is currently 8-28 heading into Tuesday night’s matchup against the Dallas Mavericks. Domantas Sabonis is sent off for some time with a leg injury, and Sacramento’s bizarre lineup construction, which was widely criticized before the start of the year, turned out exactly as most experts expected.

On Tuesday, the Kings got something tough injury news on one of the younger members of their roster.

“According to a league source, the Kings forward Keegan Murray underwent an MRI after leaving the game in the third quarter of Sunday night’s game against the Bucks. Imaging revealed a moderate sprain of the left ankle. Murray will be on the roster and will be re-evaluated in 3-4 weeks,” ESPN’s James Hamm reported on X, formerly Twitter.

It’s a tough injury blow for a Kings team that isn’t exactly loaded with young talent, and may be looking to increase the trade value of some of their players as the deadline approaches next month.

Over the last few years, Keegan Murray has established himself as a solid 3-and-D player who can defend the perimeter and knock down open shots on the other end of the floor. This latest injury setback will only add to the burden on the Kings and make lineup configurations that much more difficult for head coach Doug Christie.

Either way, Tuesday night’s Kings vs. Mavericks game will have a late start at 11:00 PM ET from Sacramento.
