Keegan Murray is relishing the ‘opportunity’ amid injuries

The tank is in full swing in Sacramento, with The Kings see two members of their veteran coreformer All-Stars Domantas Sabonis and Zach LaVine underwent season-ending surgery to repair knee and finger injuries. With Sabonis and LaVine gone, the Kings are sure to cement themselves as the worst team in the NBA, which they currently are with their rotten 12-44 record.

It may be awful in Sacramento right now, but it’s not all doom and gloom, as the Kings have at least a few young players on the roster who have shown they are members of the next great iteration of the team, most notably Keegan Murray.

Murray had a good start to the season, but has progressed to become the Kings’ main man halted due to his injury struggles. Still, with Sacramento’s veterans on the mend, Murray now he has a huge opportunity in the store after returning from injury.

“I think it’s a big opportunity for me just to grow as a player. I mean, with DeMar (DeRozan) these last few years, (De’Aaron) Fox guys, I haven’t been able to take those big shots and things like that and those moments,” Murray said, per Brendan Nunes of Sacctown Sports.

“Just to be able to grow in those moments and be able to make and make shots that win or lose games. I think that’s something I haven’t really done in my career so far.”

Murray really hasn’t gotten a chance to be the number one option for the Kings yet. He may not have that opportunity yet, though, as DeMar DeRozan is still on the roster and has been very durable throughout his career.

But the Kings, being in tank mode, should hand the keys to Murray and the rest of the team’s youngsters, including Nick Clifford, Devin Carter and Maxime Reynaud, so they can at least evaluate the talent they currently have.
