Keisean Nixon doesn’t hate Green Bay anymore because of Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers they are getting ready to play Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football. The matchup with the former Packers quarterback is making headlines, but Matt LaFleur he does his best to diminish Rogers’ narrative. Green Bay’s head coach insisted it was a media-constructed story. And, according to LaFleur, very few of his players were even in the future Hall of Famer’s final season with the Packers.
But Keisean Nikon he remembers his time with Rogers well. “I didn’t want to come here. I hated it when I first came here,” the Packers cornerback admitted, per The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman.
“I used to be a little miserable — I just wasn’t comfortable, just trying to meet guys and stuff like that. And Aaron was always like, ‘Why are you so angry and angry?’ and he made me hug him and then it was like a thing. But our relationship grew over time. We still talk and communicate and stuff. But I always appreciate him,” Nixon explained.
Although, when asked if he reached out to the quarterback before their Week 8 matchup, Nixon didn’t mince words. “No, I’m not talking to him right now. Absolutely not.”
Keisean Nikon credits Aaron Rodgers with making the Packers fit
Nixon began his career as an undrafted free agent with the then-Oakland Raiders. He spent three seasons with the Raiders before signing with the Packers in 2022. Rodgers obviously helped the young defensive back adjust while Nixon’s career flourished in Green Bay.
In addition to a big jump in the secondary, he has become an important return specialist for the Packers. Nixon led the league in punt return yards in 2022 and 2023. He made the All Pro first team as a punt returner in both seasons.
Now he will face Rodgers as the veteran quarterback plays against his former team for the first time.
Despite LaFleur’s version of history, there are currently 12 players on the Packers roster who were teammates with the four-time MVP in Green Bay. That includes Jordan Love, who was drafted 26th overall in 2020, the same year Rodgers won his third MVP.
Still, Rodgers doesn’t see it as a revenge game. He reportedly had a positive relationship with love – a contrast to his unpleasant experience with Brett Favre 15 years ago.
For his part, Love plays down the significance of the matchup with Rodgers. The fifth-year passer simply considers it just “another game.”
