Kendrick Perkins calls on the Warriors to shut down Stephen Curry

Curry is halfway through the 17th season of his remarkable career. Having won four titles in that span, Curry hopes to compete for a fifth ring as he progresses through the latter stages of his time in the league.
Golden State has struggled to reach the top of the mountain since its last title in 2022. Although the franchise made moves this season to keep its roster in the playoffs, former player and current NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins made a clear request to the organization on Curry’s availability this season.
“Turn Steph off. Let those guys play. See which guys fit. Right now, I’d let the rest of the Warriors team without Steph play this season and audition to see if they want to be here. How do you want to be here? By performing at a high level,” Perkins said on the 12:21 Road Trippin podcast.
“This offseason is probably one of the most important offseasons for this franchise since Steph has been a part of the franchise. Because they have to go out. Mike Dunleavy has to do his damn job and make sure he goes and picks up the pieces so that Steph has a legitimate chance come next year to compete for an NBA title.”
What’s next for Stephen Curry, Warriors
Stephen Curry still has plenty of fuel in the tank to put on huge performances in his career. The Warriors need to maximize his remaining years before he calls it a career.
Curry remains elite at 17 as Golden State’s best star. During 39 games, he averaged 27.2 points, 4.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.
Golden State is 30-27 on the season, holding the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings. They are above the Los Angeles Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers while trailing the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers.
After Sunday’s win over the Denver Nuggets, the Warriors will be looking forward to their next matchup. They hit the road when they face the New Orleans Pelicans on February 24th at 8:00 PM ET.
