Kendrick Perkins rips GSV’s ‘dysfunctional’ organization over Stephen Curry’s failure

While Golden State The Warriors are combing through trade offers for Jonathan CummingsESPN’s Kendrick Perkins tore the organization apart by failing to surround the All-Star Stephen Curry with a list of championships. In his 17th season, Curry continues to age like fine wine, averaging 28.1 points on 46.6% shooting, including 38.8% from deep, 4.9 assists and 1.2 steals.

For Perkins, Warriors they were not the same since GM Bob Myers resigned in 2023, leading to dysfunction, Perkins told ESPN’s NBA Today.

“Ever since Bob Myers left that organization, it’s just been dysfunctional,” Perkins said. “When you talk about breaking up with Klay Thompson, when you talk about the relationship between Steve Kerr and Jonathan Cumminga, I start to question their player development. (The Warriors) are doing the biggest disservice in the history of the organization to Steph Curry, who is averaging 28 points this season.

“Damn, what are you going to do? Of all the teams trying to compete for the title, they’re not just set up for now, they’re set up for the future. Golden State Warriors they have no real future outside of Stephen Curry. So they have to get this right.”

Perkins disagrees with the way the Warriors handled the turmoil between coach Steve Kerr and Cumminga that led to Jonathan’s looming trade as Golden State looks to trade one of its assets at the deadline.

“Just when it comes to getting the right piece back for Jonathan Cummings, it’s very embarrassing,” Perkins added. “And it’s a big disappointment when it comes to talking about this situation with the Golden State Warriors.”

The Warriors are expected to pull the trigger on the Cummings trade in the next few weeks.

Veteran Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga did not play before requesting a tradeas the writing was on the wall for weeks before it became official. Warriors coach Steve Kerr buried Cummings on his depth chart, which didn’t do much for Jonathan’s trade value.

However, the Lakers are the team that supposedly have some interest in the Cummings trade, according to The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson II, Sam Amick and Nick Friedell.

“League and team sources have confirmed the report that the Lakers have some interest in Cummings, although it remains unclear if negotiations will take place,” Thompson II, Amick and Friedel reported. “The warriors, sources say, are aware of the intrigue and are waiting to see how the situation will develop.”

The Lakers will be a team to watch before this year’s Feb. 5 trade deadline.
