Kevan Lacy provides a big update on injuries ahead of the Sugar Bowl

A big boost seems to be coming at the right time for Ole Miss football team, with a star on the run Kevan Lacy is listed as probable on the CFP injury report for the Sugar Bowl quarterfinals against Georgia after leaving the Tulane game with a shoulder injury.
From there, the update got even louder. In conversation with On3’s Chris Lowe, Lacy he said he practiced like “full go” and had no restrictions, adding that he is ready to play. He was listed as “probable” Monday after a shoulder problem popped up in the second half of Ole Miss’ first-round win over Tulane.
That’s important because Lacy has been the engine of the Rebels’ offense all season. He has 1,366 rushing yards so far, plus the kind of work that changes game plans, even when he’s not at his sharpest.
He scored two touchdowns against Georgia earlier this season, but finished with just 31 yards, a strange stat line that continues to show how much attention he requires near the goal line.
Ole Miss was also not short on words of caution from the staff.
On Sunday, KB coach Joe Judge confirmed Lacy was at practice but did not give a real prognosis, saying he would leave the official injury information up to head coach Pete Golding.
Georgia, for her part, was preparing as if Lacey would be available. Bulldogs defensive coordinator Glen Shuman said he assumes Lacy will play and called his availability a major factor in how the game plays out, a pretty direct sign of how central the running game is to Ole Miss’ identity.
Another story hanging over the week involves the quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and the Lana Kiffin question. At Sugar Bowl media day, Chambliss said he hasn’t communicated with Kiffin and added that he doesn’t think that’s even allowed right now, per Yahoo Sports reporter Ross Dellenger.
Kickoff is set for Jan. 1 at 8:00 PM ET on ESPN, with the winner advancing to the Fiesta Bowl to face either Ohio State or Miami.
