With fans locking theirs bold predictions for the upcoming 2025-26 Houston Rockets seasonregular season starts with a bang, competing against Oklahoma City Thunder. While they are obvious stories surrounding the Thunder and new Rockets star Kevin Duranthe would answer a question regarding his current relationship with the franchise.
After practice leading up to next Tuesday’s opener, a reporter would ask Durant, “Going back to OKC, are there people in the arena, employees, anybody you want to see when you get back in the arena?” This would lead to a direct answer from Durant, and who could disappoint Oklahoma City fans.
“No,” Durant said flatly, according to Full Court Pass.

In a way, that might be understandable since Durant last played for the team in 2015-16, and it’s been a decade since then. He played for three different teams than the Thunder in the Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns, before his next chapter with Houston.
Rockets’ Kevin Durant talks personal goals

With Durant is the focus of the Rockets and Thunder openerThe 37-year-old star has set goals for himself because he is still a top player in the NBA. Averaging close to 27 points per game last season with the Suns, Durant would be asked about his personal goals and talk about “standard” has it to himself, according to Rockets Wire.
“I have a standard that I’ve held myself to since I’ve been playing basketball,” Durant said. “I know what I bring to the table, and I know what I’ve done consistently for the last decade and a half. It’s just about being a great teammate every day, being a coach, making shots and guarding my man, as simple as that. I try to be at that level every night.”
As for his stats, it could be debated whether he’ll match last year’s numbers where he averaged 26.6 points, six rebounds and 4.2 assists per game while shooting 52.7 percent from the field and 43 percent from deep. It remains to be seen, but Durant’s first regular-season game with his new team is Oct. 21 against his former team in the Thunder.
