Kevin Love’s $60 million contract offer crumpled up and thrown away
Looking back at the contract offer that eventually led to Minnesota Timberwolves trading Kevin Love There was a part of the story to the 2014 Cleveland Cavaliers that few knew. Spending the first six seasons of his career with a franchise that drafted him fifth overall in 2008. Love is among the top 5 Timberwolves players of all time.
However, when the Timberwolves offered Love a four-year, $60 million extension instead of a five-year max, he crumpled the contract, according to John Krawczynski of the Athletics, who shared the tidbit with The Zach Lowe Show.
Krawczynski reveals that Kevin Love crumpled up the 4-year, $60 million contract extension offered to him by Timberwolves GM David Kahn and threw it in the trash because it wasn’t the 5-year max he expected and deserved at the time.

Lion’s eight-year tenure with the Cavs was the longest he has ever played for one team, as the five-time All-Star is in his 18th NBA season. Alongside All-Stars LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, Love helped the Cavs secure their first championship in 2016.
The Timberwolves’ inside scoop on landing their next star

Former Timberwolves forward Kevin Love never got a chance to compete in the postseason during the franchise’s rebuilding years. Nearly a decade removed from Lion’s trade with the Cavs, the Timberwolves are making back-to-back Western Conference Finals appearances. Should they be keeping an eye on Grizzly’s Ja Morant?
That’s a a question worth investigatinggiven the tension between Morant and the Grizzlies’ coaching staff. Plus, the Timberwolves could use a starting point guard this season, as All-Star Anthony Edwards has taken over that role, as noted by John Krawczynski of the Athletics.
“There’s no real point guard on the roster. They’re looking to Anthony Edwards to do that. They’re looking to Julius Randle to do a lot of things for point guards,” Krawczynski said. “They must have checked into Memphis on Ja and were just trying to test the waters a little bit. I don’t feel like there’s anything really close.”
But I think as we get into the end of December and the Wolves are still kind of, again, treading water, and that point guard position is still not solidified, and they haven’t found ways to alleviate it. I think they could at least explore better looking at Ja Morant.
The Timberwolves have won five of their last six games and are 7-4 for the sixth best record in the Western Conference.
