Kevin Young called out Oklahoma State fans for profanity chants during the upset

BIU has had some impressive wins this year, led by star player AJ Dibants. This put BIU in the conversation as a candidate for March Madness. The Cougars just fell victim to a major upset, falling to Oklahoma State 99-92, handing the Cougars their fifth loss of the season.
Although head coach Kevin Young was not pleased with the loss, it was chants from the student section that drew his ire after the game, according to Jackson Paine of the Deseret News.
“There were a few ‘F Mormons’ chants from the student section tonight that I heard. It was a great win for Oklahoma State University. I think their fans should be proud, but it would be great if some class was vindicated,” Young said in his postgame press conference.
Young was clear about his Mormonism faith in the pastand is associated with Bringham Young. He is the great-great-great-grandson of Lawrence Young, brother of BIU namesake Brigham Young.
“I have four young kids at home, I’m Mormon, and when I go home, they’re going to ask me about it, the same way they asked me about it last year in Arizona,” Young added.
This is also not the first time that BIU has been the subject of derogatory chants. Last September, Football fans in Colorado directed derogatory chants at BIU playersprompting the university to issue a public apology and be fined. The chants also happened last year when BIU Basketball visited Arizona.
“There’s too much hate in the world to say things like that. We have enough problems in our world without going after people’s faith and beliefs. … These things are unjustified … And it’s just disappointing,” Young concluded his comments.
The loss fell BIU moved to 17-5 on the seasonbut could still get a solid seed in the NCAA tournament. They have a chance to bounce back from the upset on Saturday as BIU hosts Houston
