Kevon Looney shined the love in the first game in SF
Kevon Looney he gained considerable love and respect from the Golden State community during his comeback game in New Orleans Pelicans vs. Warriors matchup on Saturday night.
Looney is in his 11th career season, his first with the Pelicans. He spent 10 years with the Warriors as he played a vital role in the front court with his rebounding and defensive qualities. He won three championships during his time with the franchise, with his biggest impact coming in the 2022 title.
Looney left Golden State in the 2025 offseason, wanting a new change of scenery. This game was the center’s first in the environment since his departure, which makes it emotional.
And fans got the message too, according to reporter Kenzo Fukuda. They cheered for his name as they paid him respect for all he had done for the franchise during his 10 years of service.

How the Warriors did against Kevon Looney, the Pelicans

Kevon Looney appreciated the fan cheer he once represented, but his Pelicans team couldn’t beat the Warriors. They lost 104-96 as Looney finished with four points and five rebounds in 10 minutes of action.
Both teams traded shots throughout the game, as New Orleans trailed 73-72 after three quarters. However, Golden State pulled away in the fourth quarter by outscoring the visitors 31-24 in the last 12 minutes of regulation.
Perimeter shooting, ball movement and turnovers made the difference in this match. The Warriors won in all three categories by making 12 3-pointers, dishing out 28 assists and limiting their turnovers to just 10. It wasn’t the same for the Pelicans as they made just seven 3-pointers, dished out 16 assists and turned the ball over 13 times.
Three players scored in double figures for New Orleans in the loss. Zion Williamson led the way with 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists. He shot 8 of 16 from the field and 9 of 10 from the free throw line. Next was Sadiq Bey with 21 points and seven rebounds, while Jeremiah Fiers had 16 points and six rebounds.
Golden State improved to 11-10 on the season, holding onto eighth place in the Western Conference standings. They are two games ahead of the Portland Trail Blazers and 2.5 games ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies while trailing the Minnesota Timberwolves by one game and the Phoenix Suns by 1.5 games.
The Warriors will look forward to their next match, staying at home. They host the Oklahoma City Thunder on December 2nd at 11:00 PM ET.
