Keyonte George has injury scare after collision during Pistons game

The Utah Jazz held their breath after guard Keyon George appeared to suffer a head injury in the third quarter against the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday.
The Jazz can’t afford to lose another key player after Center Walker Kessler’s season-ending shoulder injury.
George he was trying to score when he collided with Ausar Thompson.
“Jazz guard Keyonte George just took a knee to the left side of the face/head after a pump fake and Aussar Thompson tried to block his shot. George just left the game face down on the court,” reported Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
Fortunately for the Jazz, the 21-year-old George was not seriously injured and returned to the game a few minutes later.
The third-year point guard is enjoying his strongest campaign to date with Utah. Before facing the Pistons, he averaged 23.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 8.1 assists and 1.0 steals. His shooting has also improved significantly from 39.1% last season to 43.7% this season.
With jazz drawing on their youth movementled by striker Lauri Markkanen, George will have a big role in the team’s future. The offseason exit of running back Colin Sexton also signaled Utah’s reliance on George to own the backfield.
The Jazz drafted him 16th overall in 2023 out of Baylor. Although he showed promise in his first two years, he was still erratic at best. But he put in the work this offseason, and now George looks like a more mature general.
However, at the time of writing, the Jazz trail the Pistons in the fourth quarter.
