Knicks star Jaylen Brunson’s game-winner against the Pacers drew a double by Mike Breen

After a successful trip to Las Vegas, New York Knicks (19-7) ruled out Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart and Mitchell Robinson for Thursday’s game against the Indiana Pacers (6-21). Fans need not worry, however, because NBA Cup MVP continues to drive this championship-starved franchise. He nailed a three-pointer over Andrew Nembhard and gave the visitors a 114-113 lead with less than five seconds left. The Knickerbockers won by the same score.

Brunson continues to assert his title as the best player in the Clutch. His heroics even prompted beloved gamer Mike Breen to belt out the classic but rare “Bang! Bang!” call. He welcomes the opportunity to lift the Knicks in the closing minutes of the contest.

Regular season win over a A Tyrese Haliburton-less Pacers team obviously won’t draw endless praise, but the thrilling game-winner should instill even more confidence in the two-time All-NBA second-team selection. And that could spell trouble for the rest of the Eastern Conference.

New York collectively clawed their way through the fourth quarter, but Brunson is once again the man of the hour. He scored 25 points on 10-of-23 shooting with seven assists, seven rebounds and three steals against Indiana. The two-time All-Star point guard is an absolute dynamo and the Knicks’ best shot at ending a half-century NBA title drought.

Unfortunately for Jalen Brunson and New York, the hoops-watching world won’t be praising them unless they make the Finals. Although, until the Knicks get a chance to clear that hurdle this spring, all they can do is build momentum and get wins. Mike Brown’s team will be going for its seventh straight W (not incl Victory in the NBA Cup over the San Antonio Spurs) when the Philadelphia 76ers (14-11) visit on Friday night.
