Kristaps Porzingis, Zachary Rizacher get injury notices

The Atlanta Hawks are riding a two-game winning streak after struggling for a stretch, and seem to be starting to find their groove again. They had to rely on their depth during this stretch, like Kristaps Porzingis and Zachary Rizacher missed time due to injuries.

Both players updates received their status advances, and they continue to advance.

“Kristaps Porzingis, who has missed the last eight games with Achilles tendonitis, is participating in basketball activities and will be re-evaluated in about a week. Zachary Rizacher, who has missed the last eight games with a left knee contusion, continues to progress in his recovery status. He will be recovering today. moving forward,” the Hawks wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Risacher appears to be further away from Porzingis, and that could be good news for the Hawks as they need more wing depth on this stretch. He was recently assigned to the College Park Skyhawks to presumably practice with the team, and the Hawks recalled him the next day.

As for Porzingis, it sounds like he’s making progress as well, but he still needs time to get back on the court. When Porzingis played this season, he gave the Hawks a boost on both sides of the ball, but the problem is that he was only available for 17 games.

Porzingis has missed time all season due to illness, which may be related to the POTS illness he has been dealing with since the end of last season with the Boston Celtics.

It’s been tough for the Hawks to stay fully healthy this season, and with the new additions of CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert after the Tree Young trade, they don’t yet know what they look like at full strength.
