Kyrie Irving urges media not to ask ‘real questions’

It was recently published that Dallas Mavericks star rush hour Kyrie Irving would miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season while recovering from a torn ACL. Mavericks fans likely won’t be disappointed by the news, considering the team is currently gearing up for another lottery pick after getting lucky with Cooper Flagg last year.
The NBA All-Star festivities took place in Los Angeles over the weekend, and now Irving is blasting the NBA media for their behavior at the event.
“There are no real questions,” Irving said of the media, according to Sportsville on Instagram. “And whenever somebody asks a real question, it’s lobbying for something else, or branding or something. And you all know the real question I’m talking about … they don’t want to talk about anything that’s really going on. You all know what I’m talking about.”
Although Irving did not elaborate further, he declined to do an interview with ESPN over the weekend, saying he “didn’t really care” about the publication.
Irving also recently wore a shirt that paid tribute to journalists covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, according to Al Jazeera.
“Dedicated to our beloved journalists in Gaza who show the world the truth,” the label on the T-shirt read.
Throughout his career, Irving has never been shy about speaking his mind on real-world issues, which has sometimes landed him in hot water with league officials, especially during his time with the Brooklyn Nets.
The star has been sidelined since tearing his ACL last March, shortly after the Mavericks’ shock trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, and has watched from the sidelines this year as Flagg turned into one of the best rookies in recent NBA history.
The Mavericks will next take the floor on Friday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
