LA sure is glad the Mavericks traded a guy who could make unfathomable passes like this one
Wednesday night, The Los Angeles Lakers have improved to 7-2 with a narrow victory for the home team via the San Antonio Spurs. It was another great game for Luka Dončićwho scored 42 points with 13 assists and nine rebounds, and continued to establish himself as an early favorite for the league MVP award.
One of the Dončić family the most impressive passes it happened in the second quarter of this game, when he was double-teamed on the baseline and somehow managed to find Rui Hachimura open near the top of the arc. Hachimura then promptly buried a 3-pointer, giving the Lakers the lead.
It was just one example of the otherworldly playmaking that Doncic brings to the table every night for the Lakers, a playmaking that the Dallas Mavericks surely wish they had right now, as their team currently has the worst offense in the entire NBA landscape.
The Mavericks’ 2-6 start to the season didn’t help Nick Harrison convince fans to buy into his “vision,” which he claimed included investing less than two percent in the lottery that ultimately landed the team in Cooper Flagg.
Hot start for the Lakers

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have been on a roll lately, currently 7-2 on the young season. Doncic has continued to play at an MVP level since returning from injury, and Austin Reaves, who has been sidelined for the last two games, continues to look like one of the NBA’s top third options.
It will be interesting to see how things change when LeBron James returns to the lineup from injury. While James is, of course, still an elite NBA player, it’s possible the Lakers will have to adjust their offensive approach a bit when he returns to the lineup, which could set the team back temporarily, even if it means they’ll be better suited to win in the long run.
Either way, the Lakers will take the floor next on Saturday night against the Atlanta Hawks.
