LA trades Chris Paul to the Raptors in a 3-team deal, but there’s a catch

Earlier this week, The Los Angeles Clippers were shaking things change james harden to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Darius Garland, but there was speculation that LA might not be done. On Wednesday, the team made another move involving a point guard as the deadline approaches.

“The Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors have agreed to send multiple teams. Chris Paul to the Raptors and 2032 Raptors second-rounder Ochai Agbadji and Nets cash, sources tell ESPN,” ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported on X, formerly Twitter.

Paul was bizarrely sent home from the Clippers during a road trip a few months ago and hasn’t been with the team since, although he technically remains on the roster.

However, it doesn’t look like the Raptors will be his new home, despite this trade.

“The Raptors will not require Chris Paul to report to the team and could still discuss trades involving him within the next day. Toronto is now tax-free. Brooklyn is picking up assets and cash to cover Agbadji’s salary. The Clippers cleared a roster spot and saved $7 million in taxes,” Charania reported.

It was later reported by NBA insider Chris Haynes probably the next step for Toronto as far as Paul is concerned.

“CP3 is expected to be dropped,” Haynes reported on X.

This would open the way for Paul to sign with a new team until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the Clippers will next take the floor on Wednesday night, coincidentally against the Cavaliers.
