LeBron 23 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.
The LeBron 23 allows himself a little deviation through this new colorway, aptly named “Honor The King”. So far, each color has allowed us to look back at the numerous feats that have shaped great history LeBron James. This time, it’s history with a capital H, as this color pays tribute Martin Luther King Jr, celebrated yesterday in the NBA through MLK Day.
The turquoise blue colors of the LeBron 23 here echo those of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, where Martin Luther King was assassinated in 1968. The site was purchased in 1984 to later become the Civil Rights Museum, to which LeBron James donated $2.5 million in 2016 for the exhibit, specifically the exhibit funded by Mo and Ali.
Paired with gold finishes, to highlight the “Swoosh” on the forefoot or LeBron James’ signature on the tongue, the model also has the distinction of a patch where we can read the words “EQUALITY” on the heel.
The LeBron 23 “Honor The King” will be available in the South Basket4Ballers from Thursday, at a price of 200 euros.
