LeBron James asked if he wanted to stay in LA this season

Los Angeles The Lakers were in decline in the past few weeks, and it is uncertain how they will recover from this slump. One solution is to bring back Austin Reaves, who should return sometime during the Lakers’ road trip, but that still might not be enough to get them back on track.
The Lakers also don’t have the pieces to make a move that could help them at the trade deadline, though they’ve shown that giving up something small can add up to something big. As crazy as things have gotten on the field, things off the field have been loud the last few days, especially after the Buss family article was published.
LeBron James’ name came up in that story because of the alleged beef Jeanie Bass had with him, and she apparently tried to trade him to the Los Angeles Clippers.
With all this going on, James he was asked directly after their loss to the Clippers if he wanted to stay with the Lakers this season.
“I’m fine, I’m fine,” James said. “I’m fine.”
P iz @DanVoikeSports: “Do you want to end the season here?”
And from LeBron James: “I’m fine. I’m fine. … I’m fine.” pic.twitter.com/ksbOknoKKSV— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) January 23, 2026
James then pointed to his hoodie that said, “Everybody’s Crazy,” and said it out loud as he walked away.
It was a question everyone knew James probably wouldn’t answer, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask. With the recent loss and the story that has emerged, it could be a good excuse for him to want to leave.
Ultimately, he doesn’t appear to be going anywhere, and if he is, the Lakers have two weeks to try to make a move. At that point you need to find out what his market is and if anyone is willing to give up assets for someone they know could retire after this season.
