LeBron James broke the NBA record in the first part of the season

LeBron James became the first player to play in 23 consecutive NBA seasons when he took the court for the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.

The 40-year-old, who missed his team’s first 14 games of the season with sciatica, had 11 points, 12 assists and three rebounds in 30 minutes of a 140-126 home victory over the Utah Jazz.

James – the NBA record holder – passed Vince Carter’s 22 consecutive NBA seasons, while his two 3-pointers also moved him past Reggie Miller for sixth on the NBA’s all-time 3-pointers list.

“It’s been a long time since he played basketball, so I think he looked amazing in the first game,” said Lakers teammate Luka Doncic.

“He’s going to continue to get his rhythm and he’s going to help us a lot.”
