LeBron James, LeBron James, Jeanie Buss, had her own thinking

Everyone knows LeBron James meme speaking with Jeanie Buss and Linda Rambis, congratulating them on International Women’s Day. It looked like everything was going well Los Angeles Lakers‘ to the world, but deep down there may have been a sense of anger and resentment among some of the people in that group.

Buss has been tasked with making big decisions regarding the Lakers for years, and with that comes having a lot of people in your ear, and you can lose focus as well as trust. That’s clearly what happened with her according to James, especially when it felt like he was being given credit to be a savior franchise when he signed in 2018, according to ESPN’s Baxter Holmes.

That wasn’t the only moment that might have upset her. The The Lakers traded for Russell Westbrook to accommodate James, and the move was expected to help them be one of the better teams in the league. Unfortunately, it was bad, and the Lakers missed the playoffs that year. The thing that reportedly upset Buss was that James didn’t take any responsibility for how poorly the move went.

Fast forward, and she was even considering replacing James with their rival.

“Team sources say Ginny has privately railed against LeBron James’ excessive influence in the organization, even considered trading him in 2022 and believed James wasn’t grateful enough to the team that drafted his son Brony in 2024,” Holmes wrote. “Jeanie was privately angry at what she felt was his lack of accountability and the way James would shift the blame to others after the Westbrook trade, the people said.”

“In 2022, after the Westbrook trade, multiple people said that Ginny was privately considering not giving James a contract extension, and later that year, even trading James to the LA Clippers was a possibility. (This was before James was hit with a no-trade clause in July 2024 after signing a new two-year, $104 contract.)”

It’s uncertain if things are better today, but many would assume so since that meme between James and Bass was in 2024 and he’s still with the team.
