LeBron James Rejects Media After JJ Redick Talks ‘Uncomfortable Truth’

Recently, the The Los Angeles Lakers had little a stormy moment with an explosion at Christmas loss to the Houston Rockets at home, after which JJ Redick angered the team for a perceived lack of effort and promised a tough training session over the weekend. Despite their solid 19-10 record, the Lakers’ lack of viable two-way players has started to become too much of a problem to ignore in recent weeks.

After Saturday’s practice, Redick took a a little more responsibility than he did after the Rockets loss.

“Me, I’m always going to look in the mirror first,” Redick said, per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin . “And I think it’s easy as a player, as a coach, to say, ‘It’s this guy’s fault,’ or, ‘We’re not doing this because X, I, and Z.'”

“The truth is uncomfortable and that’s why you have to get it all out there, that’s all,” he added.

McMenamin also reported that both LeBron James and Marcus Smart declined to speak to the media after practice.

The Lakers also received some unfortunate news recently when it was revealed that Austin Reaves, who enjoyed an All-Star caliber season this year, will be out for the next four weeks with an injury.

Overall, the Lakers are still in a good place, nine games over the .500 mark, but hard practices and team meetings will only go so far in solving the real problem, which is the fact that Los Angeles doesn’t have many (any?) players who can hold their own on both offense and defense.

James fit that bill at one point in his career, but he doesn’t provide much defensive ability on the cusp of his 41st birthday.

Either way, the Lakers will next take the floor on Sunday night against the Utah Jazz.
