LeBron James responded with a signature chase-down block against the Magic

The Los Angeles Lakers they’ve had their share of struggles defensively this season, but every once in a while, they’ve shown brilliance on that part of the floor. On Tuesday evening, LeBron James showed it once again that age is just a number, as he skyrocketed to deny Orlando Magic guard Anthony Black an easy transition.

The game started with a turnover from James, as his pass back to Austin Reaves was deflected by a Magic guard. Black then took the ball in transition where he is usually prolific, and it looked like he only had Reeves to beat. Reaves did enough to distract Black, giving the Lakers star plenty of time to track back and skyward for an epic chase block that he was made his signature move.

However, it was worrisome when the Magic had three players back to the Lakers’ two — when Paolo Banchero deflected Black’s blocked shot. But then the Lakers scrambled to defend the fast break, and Marcus Smart arrived in time to deny the Magic a field goal by swatting Buncher’s shot.

The sad part was that the Lakers couldn’t capitalize on these incredible defensive plays, as James turned the ball over again on the ensuing possession.

James walked out of the gate on Tuesday night against the Magic with fire in their eyes; currently, james has 12 points in 14 minutes of play to go along with his epic black block earlier in the second quarter.

The Lakers star has slowed down of late, but he may be picking up again as the battle for positioning in the West heats up.
