LeBron James still has it as he chased down De’Aaron Fox’s shot

LeBron James may be oldbut he can still be a dangerous lurker on defense for highlight blocks. The star point guard of the San Antonio Spurs De’Aaron Fox he was reminded of that when he tried to take the exam emphatically deleted would the Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward during Wednesday night’s NBA Cup quarterfinal game at the Cripto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Fox thought he was free for a layup after knocking the ball away from Lakers guard Austin Reaves, but James timed the shot perfectly, as he had done a million times before in his storied basketball career.

And that wasn’t even the only play worth including in the highlight reel James did in the first half of the Spurs game. In the second seriesthe four-time NBA MVP decided to test if his 40-year-old (soon to be 41) legs still worked as he went coast-to-coast and ended the show by dunking all over San Antonio big man Luke Cornette.

Sure, the height wasn’t as high as it used to be, but James made up for it with sheer violence and power in the air. It’s also worth noting that James took off outside the half-circle of the no-charge zone. So yes, his legs still work.

The Lakers will need more games like this from LeBron James and others if they want to advance to the next round of the 2025-26 NBA Cup, as they currently trail the Spurs by a wide margin in the third quarter.
